For chess players who wish to embrace a new attacking approach to the game, here is the definitive analysis of Emil Josef Diemer's match-winning tactics. Diemer's philosophy of playing from the first move for mate, at the expense of a gambit pawn, might be too adventurous for some, but no one can deny the exciting chess that results. The moves of Diemer''s 126 best games are detailed here, illustrating the style and belief behind the BDG and others. Open up a new world of chess and do not look back from your opening move.....

About the author: A. J. Dommett was brought up in Wimbledon before moving to Chichester at the age of 11, where he began his addiction to chess, playing for the Sussex County team and winning the Chichester Chess Club Championship for three consecutive years. Chess took a back seat while he studied Law, then he returned to club chess and was also involved in coaching at Lancing College. on moving to Bournemouth he joined the flourishing Southbourne club, but was prevented from playing for 1½ year after a serious spinal injury in a car accident. He now writes a weekly chess column in the Daily Echo and edits Newsknight, a chess magazine covering the Dorset and West Hants area.
