Twenty-five Annotated Games
It gives me great pleasure to express my sincere thanks to those who have given me their support in the preparation of this volume: the publisher Arno Nickel, who was bold enough to take charge of this unusual project; my friend Michael Trauth, who checked my analysis of games 1-9 and 23 and pointed out innumerable mistakes to me - without his constant encouragement I would never have finished the work; and my friend Ian Strachan, who painstakingly corrected the mistakes in my English. Of course he has been unable in all cases to remove the clumsiness of expression which inevitably mars the usage of a foreign speaker; I apologize to the sensitive reader for the deficiency of the text. I hasten to explain that this book had originally been written for an English publisher; after protracted work it was finally ready, but so much time has elapsed, that the editorial house had lost interest in bringing out chess books. I was too lazy to translate the whole book into German, and so it appears in this form.
