Noordeinde Palace: four centureis of the 'Court of the House of Orange' shows clearly how the past has shaped the present. With over 140 illustrations, is presents the residents of the palace over the centuries, the buildings, and some of the art treasures still kept there. The prominence of modern painting among these artworks reflects the preferences and enthusiasm of Queen Beatrix. In her great commitment to the building and its art, she has preserved a tradition established by previous residents of the 'Court of the House of Orange', a commitment that effectively dates back to 1591.

Since 1984, Noordeinde Palace has been used by the Dutch head of state as a working palace. With its text and illustrations, this book makes the palace accessible to a wider public. We are very grateful to Queen Beatrix for allowing photographs to be taken inside the palace, including some areas of special significance.
