Gerd-Christian Weniger ist Direktor des Neanderthal Museums in Mettmann bei Düsseldorf, dessen Konzeption und Realisation er federführend betreute. Der Archäologe lehrt außerdem als außerplanmäßiger Professor am Institut für Ur- und Frühgeschichte der Universität Köln. Weniger hat neben Ur- und Frühgeschichte auch Zoologie und Ethnologie studiert und zahlreiche Forschungsprojekte sowie Grabungen im In- und Ausland durchgeführt.
