Wijnanda Deroo's photographs of Indonesia investigate the way personal and public spaces are cultivated and neglected, curated and abandoned by the people who inhabit them. In his accompanying text, Afrizal Malna offers up a piece of writing that is both social commentary and poetic abstraction. Taken together, a portrait of contemporary Indonesia begins to emerge.
